EDMOND (EDDIE) MOUTRAN FOUNDED MEMAC IN BAHRAIN IN 1984
It consisted of one office, four people, a capital of $ 13,000 and one client.Today, with group billings in excess of $350 Million, it is ranked as the fifth largest agency in the Middle-East region, with
11 offices covering 15 markets in North Africa, Levant and the GCC, serving over 120 international, regional and local brands, and managed by over 400 international and local talents.
Memac's close association with Ogilvy and Mather started in 1986 and developed into equity ownership in 1998, when the agency's name changed from Memac to Memac Ogilvy.
In 2000, and in partnership with JWT, the group built two media investment company networks: Mindshare with 11 registered offices in the region and Media Insight with three registered offices across the region. Since its inception in 2000, Mindshare has more than doubled its business.
Ogilvy One was another first in the Arab world: Memac Ogilvy, in partnership with Ogilvy One worldwide , started Ogilvy One in 2000 in Dubai and has since spread throughout the region.
Also in 2000, the group worked with JWT and the Indian Market Research Bureau to start the Arab Market Research Bureau. Today AMRB has four offices throughout the region and has established itself firmly as one of the Middle-East's leading research specialists.
In 2001, the group took the natural step of developing a public relations offering and opened Memac Ogilvy Public Relations. Today it works out of our 11 regional offices, with its headquarters in Dubai, UAE.
In 2007 we launched two additional offerings, a specialized 'design solution' agency providing corporate identity, packaging and retail branding. This was a joint venture with the second largest design agency in France, CB'a.
Our second launch in 2007 was Ogilvy Action, an offering that focuses on the 'Last Mile' of the consumer purchasing behavior journey, at point of purchase, which according to the latest global and M.E research, is where 60-70% of the purchase decisions take place.
Our plans are to spread these latest two offerings across our regional network, and as soon as possible.
Also in 2007, and more specifically in North Africa, we opened our Algeria office, bringing our presence in North Africa to 4 offices, namely Morocco, Tunis, Cairo and Algeria.
